To be eligible to take the WBSC Exam, candidates must:
- Be a citizen of India.
- Be a resident of West Bengal.
- Have a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
- Be between the ages of 21 and 35.
The WBSC Exam is conducted in three stages:
Preliminary Exam: This is a multiple-choice exam that covers general knowledge and reasoning abilities.
Main Exam: This is a written exam that covers nine subjects:

- Science & Technology
Interview: This is the final stage of the exam, and it is used to assess the candidate’s personality, communication skills, and suitability for the civil service.

The PSC eligibility criteria varies from state to state. However, the general eligibility criteria is as follows:
- Age: 21 to 35 years

The PSC West Bengal exam is conducted in three stages:
- Preliminary Exam: Objective test with 200 questions from General Studies.
- Main Exam: Objective and conventional test with eight papers, including General Studies, Indian Economy, Constitution of India, Arithmetic, Reasoning, and an optional subject.
- Interview: For selected candidates.
The syllabus for the PSC West Bengal exam is as follows:
- General Studies: Current affairs, history, geography, Indian polity, Indian economy, science and technology, environment and ecology, West Bengal history and geography, and culture and heritage of West Bengal.
- Indian Economy: Indian economic development, problems of Indian economy, planning in India, and Indian monetary and fiscal policy.
- Constitution of India: The Constitution of India and its salient features, fundamental rights and duties, and directive principles of state policy.
- Arithmetic: Arithmetic of Class X level.
- Reasoning: Analytical reasoning, data sufficiency, and logical reasoning.
- Optional Subject: Candidates can choose one optional subject from a list of subjects, such as English Literature, Bengali Literature, History, Geography, Political Science, Economics, and Mathematics.
- Age: 19 to 24 years for Indian Military Academy (IMA) and Indian Naval Academy (INA), 20 to 24 years for Air Force Academy (AFA), and 20 to 25 years for Officers’ Training Academy (OTA).
- Educational Qualification: Graduate degree from a recognized university or equivalent.
- Nationality: Indian
The CDS exam is conducted in two stages:
- Written Exam: Objective test with 300 questions from General Knowledge, English, and Elementary Mathematics (for IMA, INA, and AFA only).
- Service Selection Board (SSB) Interview: For candidates who qualify in the written exam.
The syllabus for the CDS written exam is as follows:
- General Knowledge: Current affairs, history, geography, Indian polity, Indian economy, science and technology, environment and ecology.
- English: Vocabulary, grammar, comprehension, composition.
- Elementary Mathematics: Arithmetic, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, mensuration, statistics.
- Nationality: Indian
- Age: 18-23 years
- Educational Qualification: Matriculation or equivalent from a recognized board
- Physical Standards:
- Height: Male – 170 cm, Female – 157 cm
- Chest expansion: Male – 5 cm
- Vision: 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in the other eye
The SSC GD exam consists of four parts:
- General Intelligence and Reasoning (50 questions)
- General Knowledge and General Awareness (50 questions)
- Elementary Mathematics (50 questions)
- English/Hindi (50 questions)
Each part carries 50 marks, for a total of 200 marks. The exam is in objective format, with multiple choice questions.

- Tier 4: Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) of 50 marks for selected candidates.
The syllabus for the SSC CGL exam is as follows:
- General Intelligence and Reasoning: Analogy, classification, coding-decoding, numerical reasoning, verbal reasoning, spatial reasoning.
- Quantitative Aptitude: Arithmetic, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, mensuration, statistics.
- English Language: Vocabulary, grammar, comprehension, composition.
